No late night tunes the past couple of nights... but it's back now! That's what happens when you stay out till 12:30 with a very hot girl (who has now friendzoned me, and I'm actually pretty sad about that) Enjoy the soundtrack of 1980's teen age rebles; K-car racing, fox body doughnuts and (for the really lucky) Ferrari on Porsche street battles in Miami!

Also, bonus tune: this one's giving me bad ideas edition

E46 M3...and your complaining about what it costs to repair your current VW?

I was talking to Norskracer98 about this on other social media earlier, and he called it that someone would bring my recent GLI complaints up if I posted about the E46. :P

Truth is I love my GLI, I just wish you could disable the TCS on it. I don't even mind the CEL's because of the warranty on the car, it's just really annoying that it's throwing CEL's, aggressive driving or not. My issue with it is that it's a relatively new, sporty car. I feel it should be able to withstand being driven vigorously from time to time without breaking down.

And for the record, I never complained about the cost of repairing the GLI, I complained about it's CEL's tendency to be on, hahah!

dude, I didn't! don't take my responses seriously! I joke around a lot about this sort of stuff... I'm honestly only serious when actually important stuff's going on.

And nope. there is no way for me to do so, short of pulling a fuse from the fuse box. My 2012 GLI doesn't have the TCS off button, and the DSC (disable stability control) is a thing that doesn't exist on any VW, for "Safety reasons". now, I'm all for passive safety, but when my car decided to weld my brakes shut during a handbrake turn, we're going to have some issues!

Hence why I want something that I can turn stability control off in. also, after driving my Friend's RX8 (i'll provide a pic of the cars if you want me to) I've realized how easy it is to powerslide and countersteer a car, and how silly I was for being afraid of it. I was told to go RWD and coupe since I wouldn't be able to later in life, and save the sedate sedan for later. it was foolish of me to not follow that advice. I regret not getting something RWD every single day, and that's my issue with the GLI. I love it, but it is in the end Wrong wheel drive.

Best way to describe it is like dating a very attractive girl, who has a nice singing voice, but finds it silly to do stuff other than read or watch a movie in the evenings silly. It's all fun and good most of the time, but then she tells you that she's serious about dating, and doesn't want to "do" anything until you're happily married 8 years later, when both of you have graduated high school and college, and have stable jobs. It's great, but it's not the same as dating that hot party-chick cheerleader who you really want, even though she'll fuck you over and leave you for dead.

huh. reason I asked is because our A3 has a "disable ESP" button, and you use it for BOTH ESP and TCS. you just have to stop and hold the button down.

VW doesnt even provide a button? thats seems kinda of (read: VERY) dumb.

The sedate sedan wasnt a bad idea. You may think you can handle a RWD right now, but what would have happened the first time you went into the rain before you had some experience driving FWD? trail by fire can have dangerous consequences. NOT to mention how much more insurance would have been for you since you are a young guy. (to demonstrate, if I wanted to insure my 2000 saab 93 under my own name, it would have been 4.5K a year [canada, crazy insurance rates] if i wanted a BASE v6 mustang of the same year? 12K. A YEAR. Thik of all the gas that can buy you...)
And who the hell told you you wouldn't be able to have the RWD coupe? Thats bullshit. Manage your finances right, and you can have w/e you want

yeah, it's funny the 2011 GLI (last MK5) has it. then the Beigekrieg happened, VW cheaped down, and the GLI lost it. Enthusiasts begged for it back, so it came back in 2013... my '12 GLI doesn't have it, which sucks.

And maybe it wasn't, because I know I couldn't have handled the RWD then. Now though, I've had practice and experience, and I want it soooo baaaad! the RWD bug has bit, and I'm starting saving ASAP for a RWD car (read: I have a job interview tomorrow, let's see how it goes!!! :D )

insurance wise, it wouldn't have made much difference. V6 stang? only $5 more per month than my GLI, which right now (with me as the driver) is $305/MO.

yeah, I'm 16. that means I can't have my own plan (yet)
What's interesting is that any car I get, the insurance will hover around the same price. I tried it with a WRX. it was only $15 more per month than the GLI the worst car was actually the least powerful (AKA, the Nissan Juke) that car was $340/MO to insure. I also checked an E36 M3 out of curiosity (not that I was thinking of buying one) and turns out I'd "only" be $355 or so per month.

lol insurance rates are funny. if it makes you feel better, my dad used to own an E36 M3 when we lived in Serbia (well, he lived in Germany for work, but I lived in Serbia) and he had it registered in Serbia.

Thing about Serbia is that cars cost more to put plates on as the engine size goes up. A 1.6L Opel costs like 400 Euros to get plates on. My dad's M3? that was like 875 euros every 365 days just to keep in the road!
